This photo was taken during the walk down to Bird Island that connects to Sunset Beach. The Mailbox know as, Kindred Spirit has made national headlines for the notes that are placed inside daily. Over the span of decades, thousands have made pilgrimage to the Kindred Spirit. All different walks of life have written heartfelt notes in the mailbox journals.
I was born and raised in central North Carolina and have always enjoyed being within a two hour drive from either the mountains or the coast. My passion for photography began at a young age when my seventh grade teacher taught my classmates and me how to make a pinhole camera from an oatmeal box. It was from that moment that I was hooked. Mostly I enjoy photographing the sun rising and setting over the ocean. The colors are amazing, and every image captures a new perspective of the horizon. I also enjoying photographing wildlife and nature, especially seagulls. Admittedly though anything that sparks my interest, I try to capture the moment in a photo.
